I'm a 71 yo man in fairly good health and new to Pilates. I started going because my wife kept boasting about its benefits and I saw it as a healthy activity we could enjoy together. I have been going to classes 2-3 times per week for the last couple months. I have been VERY impressed with Aldana's teaching ability. I have felt comfortable in the class from the 1st day. Besides being sweet and very patient with each classmate, Aldana actively attends to each one in the class, correcting postures, technique, and making sure we each are getting the most out of each exercise. Each class has changes and new exercises that keep it interesting.
I have a history of a sore lower back and a more resent arm injury. Aldana has meticulously monitored my comfort levels with me, often modifying my exercises to eliminate any aggravations to my injuries. I told her recently, her class felt much like a physical therapy session, which is high praise coming from me, having needed physical therapy several times in my life.
I used to think that pilates was a soft exercise primarily attracting women. Men... I may have been wrong. Pilates is not a light-weight method of exercise. Both my wife & I are tired and sweating by the end of each 50 minute class. The exercises are not difficult or hard to do. I had another very healing massage from Liliana at Aldana's pilates studio. The space is peaceful and Liliana is truly a wonderful massage therapist. Her hands are confident and skilled at helping the release of tension. I highly recommend her!
